Looking for that one book you can recommend to your boss, your parents or a skeptical friend about the growing importance of blogs in business, politics and modern life? Blog, by blogger Hugh Hewitt is that book.
Mr. Hewitt is conservative to the bone. So, do not read this book if you can't stomach a fairly persistent, liberal-bashing undertone in each chapter. Underneath all of these cheap shots against democrats and the progressive-thinking community in the United States is a solid, well-written book about the importance of blogs with lots of examples to prove the point.
The book covers the role of blogs in recent national events including Trent Lott's fall from power, the expulsion of Howell Raines from the New York Times, the role of the Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth in the 2004 election and the end of Dan Rather following the National Guard documents scandal on 60 minutes. Blogs played an important role in each of these.
The last 100 or so pages of the book are reprints of Mr. Hewitt's blog posts. After reading a few, I stopped. This part of the book wasn't so interesting.
So, now what we need is a good blog book written by a one of the liberal/progressive bloggers. It looks like the Daily Kos is working on one. Can't wait!
